Longline: A season in the life of a modern pigeon fancier as he navigates community, fatherhood, and his love for birds.

Synopsis: Nick Iway, pigeon fancier, father, film industry worker, along with his friend of a friend, Elias, from France, send a team of pigeons to race for the first time in Utah. While waiting for the Utah birds to work up to a 100 mile qualifier race, Nick raises a young abandoned pigeon with his daughter, and begins to build the pigeon loft of his dreams behind his current loft.

In Utah to help with the qualifier race, Nick becomes fast friends with Todd, the loft owner, and his family. Todd mentors Nick with old timer knowledge, introduces him to off the books pigeon wagering, and introduces him to interesting club members until Nick’s birds qualify for the coming races.

Back home Nick visits another old timer’s, Kenny, who’s been racing birds for over 50 years. Kenny gives advice and loans Nick a million dollar pigeon to stud into his family line for use in next year’s racing season.

The loft of his dreams completed, Nick receives word that his birds did not win the final Utah race, but they did beat Todd’s birds and therefore, they won Nick a substantial side bet. With his winnings Nick goes to France where Elias shows him the pigeons of Paris.
